Finding Home in the Body

There is a kind of holding that becomes so familiar we stop noticing it. The shoulder that never fully rests. The jaw that stays ready. The breath that ends a little too soon. The belly that keeps its guard, even in quiet rooms. We call it “stress,” but often it is something deeper: the body continuing a protection it learned a long time ago.

I don’t meet “tight” bodies. I meet bodies that have been strong for too long. Bodies that carried responsibility, pressure, unspoken emotion, bodies that adapted in silence. And I hold a lot of reverence for that. Because what looks like tension is a strategy, a way the system kept you going when softness wasn’t an option.

This is why I work slowly. Because the body doesn’t respond to force, it responds to safety. Touch, when offered with presence and without agenda, becomes a conversation the nervous system understands. And sometimes, before any words arrive, the body begins to speak: a sigh, a tremble, a warmth spreading, a sudden swallow, tears that surprise you, not because something is wrong, but because something is finally allowed.

The body doesn’t rush. It unfolds in its own time.

My Water-Fasting Story Unfiltered

Fasting is a profound conversation with the body — and even with years of practice, it continues to humble me. I chose to water fast over the New Year, thinking the world would be quieter. Instead, I discovered how “relational” this season is, and how even gentle conversations, spontaneous meetings, and long phone calls can overwhelm a system already doing deep internal work.

This fast reminded me why water fasting and fasting retreats are best held in low-stimulation environments: less noise, less scrolling, less output — more listening. As the body shifts into ketosis and cellular renewal processes, emotional reactivity often softens, presence deepens, and the mind becomes strangely clear. And yet, the most important part isn’t only the days without food — it’s preparation, hydration and electrolytes, and the tenderness of re-feeding.
